Abstract:
The Palestine-Israel conflict has led to significant human and economic repercussions, with Palestine facing dire economic challenges and Israel experiencing disruptions in key sectors. This paper explores the Economic Peace Leverage Theory (EPLT), which posits that economic tools can foster peace and mitigate conflicts. The global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement aligns with EPLT by applying economic pressure to influence Israeli policies toward Palestinians. While Israel’s economy remains resilient, the symbolic and perceptual impacts of BDS highlight the potential of economic diplomacy in conflict mediation. The study argues that leveraging EPLT through collaborative global efforts can promote sustained peace and prosperity in the region, providing a non-violent alternative to conventional approaches.
