Abstract: During the period of 2012-2014 a West Nile Virus (WNV) outbreak occurred in the Regional District of Xanthi in Greece. As the self-protection measures are the most important for securing the public health this paper aims to explore the citizens buying behavior towards those measures, to classify them into groups and to profile each group accordingto their demographic characteristics. Age, education, number of children, number of family members, occupation and infection from WNV found to be significant related to people expenses towards self-protection measure. Moreover, people that have been infected from WNV have different demographic profile than those who have not being infected.
