Consistency in Economic Policy: Some Thoughts

Abstract: Economic theory contributes to a confusion between short-run and long-term goals. The appropriate focus of economic policy is long-term, traditional-comparative-advantage-based, and internationally-focused. Examples of trade, stabilization and labour are provided.
