Impactos económicos y territoriales de la reestructuración: la industria agroalimentaria en Andalucía

Abstract: RESUMEN La industria agroalimentaria es la principal especialización industrial de la economía andaluza. En una región con un sector secundario débil esto tiene una especial importancia. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar las transformaciones económicas y territoriales que han tenido lugar en la misma en el período 1980-1995. En este sentido, se considera que el estudio de la industria agroalimentaria andaluza puede ser representativo de una dinámica más general, el de las regiones periféricas en un contexto internacional marcado por las reestructuración de las relaciones sociales y productivas. Los procesos de reestructuración del agroalimentario en Andalucía han tenido como consecuencia principal un crecimiento de la producción que ha llevado implícito profundos costes económicos, sociales y territoriales. De este modo, se han destruido empleos y establecimientos y se ha producido una concentración de las cadenas de generación y apropiación de valor en las grandes ciudades. ABSTRACT Agro-food manufacturing is the principal Andalusian manufacturing specialisation. This fact is very important in a peripherical region. The objective of this article is to analyse the most important transformation in Andalusian agro-food manufacturing in the period 1980- 1995. This evolution can be considered a manifestation of a more general dynamic: the transformations of patterns of structural change of peripherical regions in a international context influenced by processes of social and economic restructuring. The effects of restructuring in the agro-food manufacturing Andalusian case can be summarized in the next words. The growing of the sector has continued, but the social and economic cost of this growth have been very important. Employment and enterprises have been destroyed and a spatial concentration of value chains has been promoted.
