Abstract:
The technology transfer process between a public laboratory and a company has been the subject of many publications and has been widely discussed in economic theories. This article will highlight several new identified asymmetries occurring between the different actors being part of the technology transfer process. We will deal mainly with the specificities related to this process in France, showcasing the technology transfer arising from the domain of aerospace and defense. These specificities are in particular related to the characteristics of the French SMEs and public research laboratories. The analysis developed below is based on the recent experience of one of the most dynamic TTO in France and its active involvement in defining the Business Model for the future Technology Transfer Accelerator Structures (SATT) planned by the French Government as one of the major tools of the “Grand Emprunt”.
