Abstract:
The exploitation of knowledge is one of the dynamics that characterizes the capitalist economic system. Demonstrating this thesis through Veblen’s thought, we will provide a new key to understand the processes characterizing it, concerning the financialization of the economy and of the knowledge. The specific case of the military sector will be the basis of a parallelism between Veblen and Melman, from which arise two basic elements: the logic of power, closely linked to the dynamics of the financial activities of the economy and that, related, of waste.
