Abstract:
This study investigates therelationship that exists between audit committee characteristics and financial performance of listed manufacturing firms in Nigeria. The study was narrowed to all manufacturing companies listed on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) as at 2018. The study covers five (5) years financial reports generated within the periods of 2008-2017. The results show that Audit committee in the context of this study, will examined through its four basic attributes size, independence, financial expertise, and audit committee's meetings. The findings of this research shown that there was a remarkable connection between busyness of audit committees and firm performance of listed manufacturing firms in Nigeria andit was recommended that management should encourage more of independent members in the audit committee. With that, it will reduce wrong accounting information and improve the confidence of investors to the firm which will directly improve the firm's performance.
