Abstract: I make available full digitized data of the Federal Reserve’s weekly balance sheet from 1976-2017 for the first time. After a short overview of the central bank during the period, I analyze the trends of the Federal Reserve’s assets and liabilities, as a result of its monetary policy decisions. I focus on the effects of significant events, such as the Great Inflation, the Great Moderation, and the Great Recession, on the Fed’s balance sheet.
