Abstract:
This paper looks at the implications of the restructuring of Europe’s pension systems. While there is evidence for a renaissance of occupational pension systems, coupled with a move towards DC schemes, the industry has hardly begun to recognize the need to re-invent its infrastructure — including the tracking of individuals’ contributions, accounts, and transaction processing — in response. In this paper we attempt to demonstrate that there is now a case for a Europe-wide DC pension administration service provider.
