Abstract: The objective of this article was to estimate income and price elasticities for 31 out of the 110 commodities that compound the System of National Accounts. The data to be used correspond to the Household Budget Survey for 2008/2009 (POF) of the Brazilian National Statistical Institute (IBGE). Moreover, estimates will be also used to calculate the Frisch parameter and thereby calculating price elasticities following Dixon et al., (1982) approach. This study is part of a broader project on structural features of the Brazilian Economy coordinated by Prof. Eduardo Haddad, from the School of Economics of the University of Sao Paulo, together with colleagues, and other research members from NEREUS. Overall, the results were satisfactory and very close to those found in the previous literature for Brazil. The value of the Frisch parameter for Brazil was of -1.94.
