Abstract:
Nutrients removal from wastewater stream is essential before re-introducing it to the natural emissaries in order to avoid eutrophication. The legislation values for nutrients concentrations have been decreased and in order to achieve the desired values investments in the existing wastewater treatment facilities have to be done. The aim of the paper is to provide an overview of the major technologies designed for nutrient removal at wastewater treatment plants.
