Abstract:
An essential role in operating Wastewater Treatment Plants is held by the biological reactor's hydraulic parameters. Experiments were conducted for evaluating the changes in dehydrogenase activity in the presence of a starch, as a substrate for sludge subjected to hydraulic flow variation for three weeks. The dilution effect is reflected not only on the wastewater loading rate, but as well on the characteristics of active sludge flocs and their efficiency.
