Abstract:
Bowlby's concept of attachment and Freud's concept of transference are two of the most influential theories of how we construct mental representations of human relationships. The attachment’s theory offers one more strategy for the therapeutic approach. Factors that lead to a secure attachment between mother and child may also be applied to the relationship between patient and psychotherapist. Psychotherapy may help a patient create himself new attachment and relationship patterns. Creating a security support allows the client to analyse his own painful experiences. Analysing transference and counter-transference that exist in the relationship allow the therapist to establish the corrective experiences necessary to the therapeutic act.
