Gender-Integrative Flux-Leadership and Teacher Effectiveness: A Cross-Cultural Analysis in Indonesian and Indian Schools

Abstract:
Objectives. The success of school leadership is closely linked to teacher effectiveness, which plays a crucial role in educational outcomes. This study aims to examine the role of flux leadership as a gender-integrative school leadership approach in enhancing teacher effectiveness in Indonesia and India. Flux leadership offers a dynamic, collaborative, and responsive framework to navigate complex educational challenges and rapid changes. Specifically, this study investigates how principals apply flux leadership strategies and the moderating role of gender in its impact on teacher effectiveness.
Methods. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The study population comprises vocational teachers in Indonesia and India. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM), followed by a moderating effect analysis to assess gender’s influence on flux leadership and teacher effectiveness.
Results. The findings reveal that flux leadership significantly and positively influences teacher effectiveness. Principals who adopt democratic leadership, collective leadership, and participatory decision-making contribute to greater teacher engagement, professional growth, and instructional performance. Additionally, gender was found to significantly moderate the relationship between flux leadership and teacher effectiveness, highlighting the importance of gender-sensitive leadership practices in schools.
Conclusions. This study underscores the importance of flux leadership as an effective strategy for enhancing teacher performance, particularly when implemented with gender-responsive approaches. School principals should actively adopt agile and participatory leadership to foster an inclusive and supportive educational environment. The study suggests that gender considerations in leadership styles play a critical role in optimizing teacher effectiveness, contributing to better educational outcomes in diverse sociocultural contexts.
