Abstract:
Not always when energy is needed the sun is shining or the wind is blowing. Here the core problem of the renewable energies is situated. The solution to this is that energy must be stored in times of its excess so that it is always reliably available at the right time and in the right quantity. This temporal decoupling can´t be achieved without efficient storage and lead to an increasing demand for innovative storage systems. Types of electrical storage systems: The various electrical storage types differ in priority by their storage medium / its storage principle, energy storage capacity, application areas, technical development and status of their availability on the market, and not at least on their investment costs. There are: - Mechanical energy storage sytems: - Electrochemical energy storage systems - Electrical energy storage systems - Fuels as energy storage systems - Hybrid storage systems Current research is being conducted on giant batteries. First results are already announced. So the Eon company builds its first five MegaWatt power storage system in Aachen. In addition, currently novel battery types e.g. from algae being studied. Innovation cell constructions and structures are also worked on. In the field of electrical storage systems, there is a high need for research and development remaining.
