Abstract: In this article the results of the interview with Hans- Jochen Zöllner, a member of the board of directors Volksbank Marsberg eG, are represented. Especially, the cooperation of four credit cooperatives in the Sauerland region of North Rhine-Westphalia is analysed. The article concludes with the paper "The development of cooperation as a preliminary stage of the merger in credit cooperatives (2015)". Using the four credit cooperatives as an example, the opportunities and risks of the cooperation are shown. The interview is divided into three parts. In the first part of the interview general questions about the personal cooperation experience, the aims and their changes are asked. The factors for strategic management inside the organization are discussed in the second part. Finally, questions about the implementation and the success factors of the cooperation are raised. Furthermore, at the beginning of the article the history and the development of the credit cooperatives are also analysed.
