Abstract:
A selection of archival documents related to the publication in 1967 in France and England of the collected works of Alexander Vasilyevich Chayanov, prepared by Professor of the Sorbonne Basil Kerble, is published. The correspondence of Chayanov's widow Olga Gurevich with Basil Kerble 1966-1970 and the translation from French of Kerble's article on Chayanov's work made by Olga Gurevich at the same time is published. Kerble's article was published as a preface to the collected works and has long been a classic. It was the first serious study of the biography and creativity of Chayanov, as well as the theory of the organizational and industrial direction of Russian economists of the 1920s in Western sociology. It is published in Russian for the first time. The letters of Kerble and Olga Gurevich reveal some additional circumstances of the preparation of the publication and allow us to recreate some features of the ideological atmosphere of the USSR of those years. Publications are accompanied by comments, a brief biography is provided Olga Gurevich. The documents were extracted from the funds of the Russian State Archive of Economics. The publication is dedicated to the anniversary of Chayanov.
