Abstract: The article deals with the problem of the influence of public institutions on the spiritual and moral security of Russia. The main attention is paid to the study of the category of spiritual and moral security, its content in political theory, as well as the current state of this aspect of security in the country. As a research methodology, the paper uses a constructivist approach, since it allows us to describe spiritual and moral identity as a social structure that is formed in the process of spiritual, moral and civilizational development of society. The overall results are related to the understanding of the state of security of our society in this section as critical, and the information obtained by the author in the course of studying the sources leads to an idea of the deep crisis processes observed in this area. The result is the commercialization of almost all spheres of society, the influence of mass culture, the deterioration of the Russian spiritual and moral heritage, the fragmentation of society ethnic moral markers, the lack of a consolidating ideology. At the same time, civil society institutions that are able to resist such crisis phenomena, on the contrary, change the environment in favor of giving ambiguity and broadcasting foreign external values. The article notes that Russia has developed a society that has not yet had time to Express itself in reasonable ideals and values, form its own ideological guidelines and determine the vector of its own intellectual development. For these reasons, there is a rethinking of the driving force in terms of ensuring the spiritual and moral security of modern Russia, which should be the focus in terms of maintaining the level of involvement in the process of spiritual and moral development. A key role in this process can play such structures responsible for socialization such as family, education system, media, cultural institutions and leisure industry, this aspect of non-profit organizations as one of the key civil society institutions should develop organized participation focused political activities in the improvement of the existing legislation and methods of its execution.
