The rapid growth of cities and their population requires a change in the management paradigm of urban municipalities. More effective management of urban areas will be promoted by the latest digital technologies that contribute to the formation of not only a comfortable living environment of the local territory, but also a new way of life, which will be based on network interactions. The article contains a brief description of the technologies and concepts most practiced by municipal authorities. The importance of digital technologies in the formation of communication links between the authorities and the network communities of the municipal territory is emphasized.
