Abstract:
The article examines the modern approaches of philosophical texts interpretation and especially interpretation of Thomas Hobbes’s philosophy. The Author highlights two key approaches of philosophical texts interpretation: logic-philosophical and history-linguistic. The former encompasses the methodologies which undertake a logical reconstruction of doctrines through unit-idea methodology of A. Lovejoy or reading of classical texts in a way of L. Strauss suggests finding a hidden doctrine. History-linguistic approach encompasses methodologies which are emerged during «linguistic turn»: within these approaches were undertaken the reconstruction of meanings through the context or conceptual history. Hobbes’s philosophy was the object of studies for many methodologies of these two approaches for former as well as for latest. Author concludes that contemporary interpretation of Hobbes’s texts should be based in integral methodology which will unite the two approaches.
