Abstract: This article publishes the results of a study aimed at identifying the expectations and needs of citizens from participatory practices and a real attitude towards their implementation. A sociological study was carried out using the in-depth interview method, where citizens living in the territory of the Tomsk region spoke in detail about the activities of the Legislative Duma of the Tomsk region. Based on the results of the sociological research, an analysis of the website of the authority and its pages on social networks was carried out. The results of research and analysis of electronic pages indicate an extremely ineffective information policy and a weak culture of electronic interaction with citizens. Based on the measures outlined above, recommendations were formulated to eliminate existing problems and improve participation.
