Abstract: The article considers various approaches to the analysis of the concept of self-employment, identifies a number of features of this business sector, analyzes its dynamics abroad and in the Russian Federation. The process of legalizing self-employment, the factors contributing to and hindering it is analyzed. Possible directions for improving state support and regulation of self-employment are proposed.
