Abstract: This article examines the rationalization of employment strategies by young people, as a phenomenon that has existed in Western culture for many years, but has spread in the Russian Federation only in the last decade, and significantly increased in 2020 due to the novel coronavirus infection pandemic. The author describes the rational approach of young people in the context of structural changes in Russian society, which indicate the fact that social changes of the last two years are institutional and are firmly consolidated in modern reality. The study of the described phenomenon allows not only a deeper understanding of the processes occurring in society and the economy, but also allows the authorities and management to form practical methods of managing influence both on the labor market in general and on youth employment strategies and training strategies, in particular. The author's concept is that youth, as a vast social group that is the future of our civilization, in the digital age with accessible information and education, is right now laying a new foundation for a society based on rationalism and a rational approach.
