Abstract: The article presents the results of the monitoring of the Arctic policy of the leading world powers and other subjects of the development of the Arctic region, conducted since 2011. The monitoring data provide a cohesive picture of the Russian strategy of the Arctic zone development along with that of the rival strategies. A general concept of monitoring and tools for the analysis of the representation of the Arctic policy in the world media was developed as well. The analytical tools elaborated during this research were tested on such significant editions as the « Rossiyskaya Gazeta», «Le Monde», «Guardian», «Washington Post», «Le Devoir», «Renmin Daily» etc. Frequency analysis of the basic semantic interpretations of the Arctic area helped to compose a political map of strategies of the different subjects of influence in the Arctic zone.
