Abstract:
Introduction. Technical subjects appear together with the human race, but now the humanity is experiencing the time when «technical» has become ontological. The necessity to interpret technology, its nature and essence, is caused, above all, by the crisis of modern technological civilization. The variety of environmental problems and militaristic threats reflects a lack of understanding the nature of «technical» and the nature of man and technology interrelations. The aim of the paper is to show the origins and prospects of modern technical civilization development. Methods. The study appeals to the historical retrospective of the experimental science development, which necessarily required the use of tools and instruments to explore the world. The work is distinguished by the diversity of cultural and historical material (literature, cinema) and facts from the history of European science. The author uses hermeneutic and phenomenon methods. Scientific novelty of the study. The novelty of the paper consists in formulating the ontological status of technology, a new dialogue between technology and man.
