Abstract:
Introduction. The ongoing sociocultural and economic transformations of modern society have affected basic social institutions, including the family. The transition from a large family model to a small, medium or childless model, including the change in population’s reproductive attitudes and value orientations, led to the formation of a new image of large families in the mass consciousness. Postmodern society, notable for multidimensional social realities, is characterized by the emergence of social groups with different and sometimes contradictory values in relation to the family and children. The “split” of values is reflected in social networks and media. Scientific novelty. In the article, the authors reveal various versions of the image of a mother with many children which have been developed in the Russian Internet space. The aim of the paper is to identify the prevailing image of a mother of a large family with a pronounced attitude to large families in society and develop models of Internet images of mothers of many children on the basis of content analysis of materials from Russian social networks and emedia. Methods. The authors use the method of content analysis to study the formed image of a mother with many children, also making use of selective coding of the subject to search for materials on the Internet. Such constructs as “having many children”, “multi-member family”, “and mother with many children” act as semantic units. Results. The authors proposed models of images of Russian mothers with many children which are formed on the Internet by analyzing the most popular Internet resources: e-media (Gazeta.ru, Izvestia.ru and Starkhit.ru) and social networks (YouTube, Instagram, VKontakte).
