Abstract: The paper is devoted to analyzing cognitive styles in contemporary social-humanitarian sciences. «Cognitive style of science” is a complex of rules and norms of choosing the ways to explain and describe, construct and organize, prove and ground some system of scientific knowledge or other. There are three cognitive styles: the NPA (“neopositivist-analytical”)-style, the KHM (“KantHegel-Marx”)-style, and the FBB (“Foucault-Baudrillard-Bourdieu”)-style. Every style has its own virtues and «problem points”. Russian social-humanitarian science admits the KHM-style, but western science is mainly grounded on the NPA-style. In order to catch up and outstrip western science, Russian scholars should not imitate the NPA-style, but develop and deepen their own KHM-methodology. The strategy of Russian social-humanitarian sciences in contemporary scientific context should not be considered as overtaking, but outstripping with applying all cognitive potential of the KHM-style.
