Abstract: In the article, the authors justify the use of the concept "region as a quasi-corporation" being a theoretical basis for developing methods to assess the performance of regional economies. The authors make a review of the methods presented in the literature for assessing the regional economy from a quasi-corporate approach. It was concluded that there is a shortage of methods to assess the efficiency of the region, with the use of corporate management tools, in particular. The authors present a method of estimating regional cash flows, define their types, describe possible values of net cash flows indicators for current, investment and financial activities with emphasis on the impact these values have on the regional economy. The article reflects the scoring criteria for each measure of net cash flows and their combination types. On the basis of the results of evaluating the Russian Federation’s regions by the type of cash flow formation for the period of 2015-2017, the regions were classified on the basis of the efficiency of cash flow formation, which make it possible to develop a set of measures for each type of regions.
