Abstract: The article presents theoretical theses for managing the innovation process of an enterprise. The results of the scientific researches devoted to identifying the essence of such categories as innovation process, innovation potential, and innovation activity of an enterprise are presented. The authors’ vision of the innovation process nature and the factors determining its effectiveness is presented. The authors point out peculiarities of the approaches to studying the innovative process nature, such as “laga approach” and “synchronous approach”. Summarizing the ideas of the synchronous approach, the authors present the method of assessing the innovation process efficiency of an enterprise using a two-level system of extensive and intensive factors. The authors show possible combinations of the factors impact on the result of the innovation process, the analysis of which makes it possible to develop a method of qualitative evaluation of the enterprise innovation process. The results of testing the proposed approach for educational organizations are presented. The authors make a conclusion that it is desirable to develop a tool to activate the innovation process such as an internal innovation converter.
