Abstract: This paper approaches the review and explanation of the method for estimating factors for service life on buildings projects in accordance with ISO 15686. This paper discusses generally the most important factors affecting the durability of buildings and addresses an example of a case study which illustrates this norm. This article describes and differentiates the concepts of reference service life and design service life in the estimation process of buildings service life.
