The Review of Regional Studies, 1993, vol. 23, issue 1, 73-82

Abstract: Like regional science, agricultural economics is a hybrid field of scholarship- not so much a discipline as a multidisciplinary subject matter area. Like regional science, agricultural economics borrows heavily from economics and is always in danger of being pulled into the disciplinary orbit of economics. Both fields are pragmatic in their approaches, and both place a high value on empirical analysis. These common features suggest that there are strong possibilities for fruitful interaction between regional science and agricultural economics.
