Abstract: Societas eruditorum incognitorum in Terris Austriacis – The unknown scholars’ society is perhaps unknown to us, but its importance for Czech science is noticeable. It is the first learned society in the Habsburg monarchy, therefore also in the Czech territory, which first switched from publishing in Latin to publishing in a living language and which is one of the first to attempt to put more emphasis on science and knowledge rather than religious differences.
