Abstract: In Romania, law 151/1998 were created 8 development regions, which constitute the design, implementation and evaluation of regional development policy, as well as for collecting specific statistical data in accordance with the regulations issued by EUROSTAT. They were created through the voluntary cooperation of the counties. These regions have similar dimensions as the number of inhabitants, and with the exception of the Bucharest-Ilfov region and area. Starting from the role that SMEs have in the development of the national economy we intend to analyse, in the following, to what extent the investment effort in the indicators of results and the value turnover using data available for 2011.
