International Journal of Financial Economics, 2014, vol. 3, issue 2, 92-97

Abstract: The paper discusses financial analysis of rain tree (Samanea suman) plantations in Bangladesh. It considers village woodlots, embankments, and road sides plantations. A sample 19 kilometer plantations ranging age 7 year to 25 year was first selected subjectively in Chittagong, Dhaka, Sylhet, Jessore and Barisal Forest Divisions in Bangladesh. A simple random sample of 3 plots is each of size 0.01 ha. Was selected. Data on stocking, volume yield, cost of nursery, plantation, maintenance, price of round and firewood from nearest market of sample area were collected in 2007. Economic determinants like net present value, internal rate of return, benefit-cost ratio and efficiency index were applied in each Forest Division and combinedly in Bangladesh. Since data of 2007 cover a wide range of plantation years, results of economic determinants remain valid in future, although data o 2007 are analyzed in 2013. All economic determinants showed highly profitable of rain tree plantations and the rotation age was found to be 15 year.
