Abstract:
Increase in processing, communication and integration capabilities of information systems also benefited capital markets as much as other financial services. Exchanges and post-trade service firms widely recognize the fact that the speed and integrity demands of the investors are more easily satisfied by integrating the heterogeneous systems. This research aims to propose a three stage roadmap to explore the possibilities of achieving a higher level of integration between the three main actors of the capital markets of Turkey; namely Borsa Istanbul Inc. that is responsible for order collection, order matching and execution, Takas bank that provides settlement, clearing and custody services within Turkish capital markets, and Central Registry Agency Inc. which is the central securities depository institution of Turkey. This three stage roadmap includes establishment of a capital markets technology firm, unification of application portfolios and unification of data centers.
