The Impact of Globalization on Nigeria’s Economy: The Case of the Agricultural Sector

Abstract: The study examines the impact of globalization on the Nigeria agricultural sector. Both primary and secondary data were collected and analyzed with non-paramedic chi-square and regression analysis. The findings confirm that globalization is a phenomenon, and of itself has no impact on the economy. The outcome of the present state of the Nigerian agricultural sector is an outcome of neglect on the side of government, investors and consumer alike. Globalization is a technological driven phenomenon, thus, the dearth of appropriate technology, infrastructural development and manpower are discovered as the major reason for the demand and supply gap that is complemented with imported food item. The study recommends the development of advance factors of production as supported by existing theories to tap the gains of globalization in the agricultural sector.
