János Kornai is Professor Emeritus at Harvard University, and honorary professor emeritus of Corvinus University of Budapest. Born in 1928, a marxist journalist in the early 1950s, he was marginalized after the hungarian revolution of 1956, and could resume a career as a researcher in the early 1960s, while being banned from teaching.
