The Gaza Crisis and the Indian Exceptionalism

Abstract: India’s attitude on the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict marks a significant departure vis-à -vis India’s own position toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as the general view of the Global South. Its prime focus has been on the terrorist nature of the October 7 violence and the resolution of the conflict through the two-state solution. Both these positions exhibit the sympathy of the Indian government toward Israel, and despite reservations and criticisms, the domestic reaction to the official position has been more muted than in the past.
