Abstract: Regions in Crisis represents a mature marxist understanding of the relations between the process of capital accumulation, the structuring of space, the creation of regional crisis tendencies, and the response of the state. Perhaps for the first time, the book enables the dynamics of spatial specificities to be interlinked with the movement of the totality of the West European social formation; and as such the book has importance which transcends its particular political orientation.
