Abstract: Industrial geography has expanded beyond manufacturing, and various systems frameworks have been proposed to organize research. Industrial systems, urban and regional systems, and the world system all have some degree of applicability as explanatory devices. The papers in this issue of Environment and Planning A are introduced within the context of recent research in industrial geography.
