Abstract:
The article highlights regional aspects of defense industry transformation in Slovakia and Hungary. Two case studies reveal different enterprise survival strategies in different local contexts. The Slovak case demonstrates how lack of restructuring and communication blocks development at both the enterprise and regional levels. The Hungarian case presents a successfully restructured enterprise and region through coordinated efforts. The main conclusion is that the combined restructuring efforts of enterprises and regions can provide long-term solutions for the problems caused by the crisis of the defense industry.
