A DSS for Facility Location
S. Datta
Paradigm, 1999, vol. 3, issue 2, 12-17
Abstract:
The paper presents a Decision Support System (055) for facility location called LOCATE. The model is transformed into a user-interactive computer programme. The module can generate a number of alternative feasible solutions which can be evaluated by the decision makers in the real situations of planning. The facility could be a school, health centre, post office, warehouse or market centre. The given area could be a village, block or a district. The model utilises the criteria of distance traveled and capacity (total 1111111ber of population served) of each facility so as to find the miinimum number of facilities to be located so that all the population the given area is covered.
