What Human Resource Managers Need to Know in the New Millennium

Abstract:
Technological transformation including the IT revolution coupled with globalisation have driven companies to deepen their ·values and relationship with customers. Leadership as n business mantra is being replaced with learning. A new type of organisation has emerged to face these challenges. In this new set up, people management has never before been so significant a function and so central to strategy. The new situation warrant newer set of skills and competencies to be acquired by the HR managers which this paper deals in depth. The author has advocated nine areas that the new age HR manager needs to take care of In the end, the author opines that competence and skills are not enough, it is the attitude of the HR managers that will make them successful in these tumultuous times.
