A Critique of the Productivity Commission's Report on Assistance to Australian Tourism

Abstract: Australia's Productivity Commission has released a study of government assistance to Australian tourism which has proved quite controversial. Various aspects of the Commission's paper are of interest to tourism researchers and several of these are explored in this paper. The paper sets out the main arguments in the Productivity Commission's research paper, critiques those arguments and discusses the implications for tourism policy.
