S. S. Khanka

Vision, 2009, vol. 13, issue 4, 25-34

Abstract: Most researches on the entrepreneurs hip development have so far been carried on the individual traits of entrepreneurs. However, the correlates of entrepreneurial performance, as powerful and driving force of entrepreneurship development, have so far not been researched especially in the North Eastern region of India that requires entrepreneurship development more for solving the twin problems of poverty and unemployment which have literally stalked this region badly. The present paper is based on the field data and investigates into how different context-specific correlates affect the entrepreneurial performance in a less developed region like Assam. The study brings forth the fact that context-specific correlates influence entrepreneurial performance not necessarily the manner these affect entrepreneurial performance elsewhere in a different contextual setting. This finding underlines the need for and significance of studying context-specific correlates of entrepreneurial performance for better understanding of phenomenon of entrepreneurship.
