Abstract:
To overcome the present crisis of leadership which is the outcome of inappropriate parenting, India needs transformational leaders—who can inspire, facilitate and channelise collective energies of those whom they lead in the right direction. Good parenting which encompasses grooming, building and socialising within the family, in schools and in the workplace, empowers and prepares human beings to attain higher consciousness and self-actualisation which are the most important and integral aspects of the profile of a transformational leader. Of the various modes of parenting like tutoring, coaching, mentoring, enlightening and metaparenting, the last two create transformational leaders who are actualising and continuously evolving human beings. Thus, the creation of transformational leaders calls for role models to play the roles of philosopher, teacher and guide.
