eDevelopment and Knowledge Management: ICT Applications for Sustainable Development
Alexander G. Flor
in Regional Textbooks from Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA)
Abstract:
This book based on papers presented by the author in international conferences. It also includes a set of concepts papers that SEARCA wishes to share with its partners for possible collaborative endeavors. The title reflects SEARCA's intent to bring new information and communication technology to bear on the pressing problems found in the sustainable agriculture arena. The new information and communication environment has spawned new terms such as eCommerce, eBusiness, and eGovernment to underscore the role of electronic technology. However, in the case of eDevelopment, the letter "e" does not merely refer to the word electronic. It also stands for the empowerment, enablement, and, perhaps more importantly, equity. It is in this contexzt that SEARCA has adopted ICT as a major thrust.
