Abstract: This article investigates the experience and the policies aimed toward attracting foreign direct investments (FDI) to CEE countries, which have all achieved significant results in this area. Despite the sharp decreases in global FDI flows during recent years, the foreign capital inflows in CEE countries have constantly increased. Studying the ways some CEE countries have encouraged FDI could help to develop effective and capable policies for attracting FDI in other transition economies, especially for former Soviet Union republics.
