Abstract: This article studies how European transportation policies have confronted problems connected with expansion of the European Union. The creation of a common transportation market in the EU has been clearly one of the key factors leading to economic growth. However, in the long-run merely building new infrastructure and opening new markets will be insufficient to further economic growth. Europe's system of transport must be re-structured so as to optimize.
