Abstract: This article examines the importance of innovation for the informational sphere of economic activity. The author explains what should be the proper use of the State's available funds of knowledge in order to provide higher rates of economic development. Under conditions of the formation of a truly global information society, the consistent development of ways to transfer information and analyze technologies is the only real option for a state to achieve a viable position in the modern world. The author then points to the need for creating proper levels of security for the informational sphere of the State.
